I need a good lap dog.. ?

  • i live with my entire family of eight. my parents, me (17), two sisters (12 and 8), and three brothers (10, 6, and 6). we also just got a new german sheperd puppy and she's 8 weeks old.

    however, me and my mom want a little lap dog that we can just hold and carry around. so we obviously need a good family dog and has to be able to get along with other dogs..

    the breeder recommended no tarriers because they wont get along with Storm (our sheperd) very well.

    Help?!


  • how about a beagle? I heard they're friendly...I don't really think I've heard of small lap dogs that do so great with children and other dogs in the household, unless brought up together. Lap dogs are small but they think they're mighty! Which is cute, I like both small and large dogs, but the little ones I think do better on their own.

    Cavs are sweet, loving and are the perfect little lapdogs. I had one myself and he put up with all us kids when we were younger. We used to sit on him like a horse, pull him by the collar, all the little things small kids do to dogs and he just put up with it

    They are the sweetest breed of the toy group and are great with children. All my dogs life, he thought he was a cat. During winter my mum would let him sit on her lap and then the cats would come to. He was beautiful!

  • i have a puggle!! she is awesome she is a little on the fat side because i havent been home and the bf doesnt do much but they can be great lap dogs usually weighin about 20lbs i know a little heavy but she is an amazing dog and hasnt ever had any problems and shes not little enough to kick

  • Have you checked with your vet? I have a (toy/miniature mix) poodle.
    Great temperamnet and doesn't shed.

  • I do not recommend getting a really small dog because they do not do well with small children.. so no chihuahuas, yorkies, maltese. I would get something about the size of a miniature poodle.. There are a lot of mixed breeds now with the miniature poodle. I have a yorkie-poo that is 1/2 yorkie 1/2 miniature poodle and she is very friendly, but not too little so you wouldn't have to be worried about little kids hurting her.
